Today, I woke up my friend and had him take me to the ER. I had trouble breathing and my chest hurt, so the doctor put me on an EKG and took X-rays. I had strained my chest lifting weights at the gym earlier that day and pulled a muscle, and now thanks to my massive anxiety I have a $700 hospital bill. FML

Honestly, though, you'd think you'd learn. I appreciate you're a caring parent, but don't be overprotective.

As terrible as that is to pay, better safe than sorry

Hey I have the opposite problem, if something isn't bent where it shouldn't be I'm not going to the doctor. I have two ****** up ankles, a ****** up shin, and I went around with a fractured arm for a month without getting it checked because of my stubbornness. Better safe than sorry haha.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being extra careful with chest pains because you shouldn't be having any chest pains so suddenly getting them is a warning sign but I'm curious didn't it feel like muscle pain

I was so surprised to read this, because the same thing happened to me yesterday!! Trouble breathing and my chest hurt, an EKG, chest X-ray and a CT scan later, turns out it's a pulled muscle. Crazy!! I live in Canada though, so it didn't cost me 700$ - just 18 hours. I feel your pain, OP!
