Today, I woke up to a horrible smell only to realize that my dog had peed all over my leg cast during the night. I can't get another one because the closest doctors are all on Christmas vacation. Guess this is an early Christmas present from my dog. FML

Get yourself some hydrogen peroxide, saturate the areas where the urine is, then saturate the same areas with a pet odor deodorizer. Perhaps try some baking soda coated on there to absorb odors?

I got a pen cap stuck in my cast when I broke my foot. I have a scar now. I think you have it worse... Sorry OP.

Would that not soften the cast? I know (in the UK at least) that the plaster they use is water soluble which is why you can't get them wet in the shower etc. There must be somewhere that is open to change the cast for you, if it begins to soften then that is urgent as your fracture won't heal properly.

Get baking soda and cover your cast with it and let it sit, do this several times and it should get rid of the smell.

Are the hospitals not open? That seems rather strange that you do not have a hospital available to change a cast. Where are you living ? In a tunnel

How cute. Your dog has marked you as his territory. Man's best friend.

When I was 16 I went on a backpacking trip and my friends dog peed on my backpack. It was the worst week of my life until I could wash it off, then I had a good time for the rest of the month haha. Hopefully you find a way to get rid of the scent OP.

Sorry OP but I'd be carving that thing off and paying out of my pocket to have another one put on before I sat in it. Where in Cali is so remote there isn't at least an urgent care?

I know of a few places in California that are VERY remote (I have family there). Nearest airport is 4+ hours away. Nearest hospital is 4+ hours away. Nearest "big store" (think Walmart or Target or another big store like that) is 2+ hours away. The airport and hospital are in Reno, Nevada and the "big store" is in OR. It is a mile from their house to the end of the driveway and their road doesn't show up on a map (though it is very nice out there). They have a small clinic that is open 2-3 days a week if you need a doctor and they have a small "town store" so you can get things like milk or bread (not much else though). Fast food is out of the question. They have one 4 way stop (no traffic lights) and that is on the square. The doctor sends your prescription out, it is filled at a pharmacy, then mailed to the town bank where people (volunteers) are there 3 days a week for people to pick up their prescriptions if they are in. It is very much a "everybody knows everybody and everything about everybody" town and the entire county has about maybe 300 people living there.

You should go to the ER, your cast being wet can cause for your skin to break down which can lead to an ulcer or infection.

I'd say go to the er, they should have no problem doing a new cast, at least I'd hope

Wash the cast as best as you can? Or use febreeze and put bags over it.
