That's so sad...but it is why I maintain the opinion that the military is for singles only....it works for some fams, but in most cases its really hard on everyone. I really think its great for people who were raised w/o the comprehension of taking care of themselves (which is, sadly, about 87% of my generation) because it teaches people how to take care of themselves....self discipline, team work, etc.

"No one should join the military unless we're being attacked"? "The military doesn't protect our freedoms"? I'm sorry, but you people honestly just don't understand how the world works. Without a military, America, nor any other country for that matter, would last longer than five minutes. Our military is the only thing keeping those countries who might wish to destroy us from invading and doing just that. Now I don't necessarily agree with the war in Iraq, although I do support the Afghan conflict, it is not one soldiers choice whether or not to invade a foreign country, nor is there a choice to join the military for a great many people. If not for this soldier and the many like him the government officials might reinstate the draft and send you to fight in his place. If you should be blaming anyone for the wars you don't agree with, you should point your fingers at the elite bureaucracy that placed us there in the first place, not the soldier who is simply doing his job.

I'm really saddened that so many people are saying YDI for joining the Army. My husband is an OIF and an OEF veteran, and still on Active service after 10 years. "Sexually deprived for your freedom" Haha. I hope that you are able to be with your wife again soon.

Thank you for your service, i'm sorry you haven't been able to spend more time with the wifey. My husband will be deployed when our child is born- talk about sacrifice. And for those of you who think you know everything about the military and say things like everyones stupid, maybe you should actually know something about how the military works before you open your mouths. My husband graduated top of his class, had several scholarships to state schools and chose to join the Navy to see the world, which he has. And he does one of the most mentally challenging jobs in the military, hes a nuclear chemist. While yes, there are jobs for those dumbfuck individuals, people actually take a test upon enlistment that qualifies them for certain jobs. So the higher they score, the better of a job they can get. A lot of people don't join to fight for the war in Iraq, they join for college money, to see the world, ect. Its just another job.
