I wonder if you are in the same situation as my brother. He always wanted to work with animals so he went through 9 years of school to become a veterinarian, in the process racking up tons of student loan debt. Once he graduated he was having problems finding/keeping a job. Most people don't realize that slaughterhouses need a person with a veterinarian degree to oversee the meat inspectors. Not necessarily the same job you dream of as a kid, but a steady paycheck and good benifits you can't snub it when you got debt. Anyway I wish you the best of luck and try to keep your chin up, at least you have a job at a time where alot of graduate students with crippling debt don't.
Did your brother consider wildlife rehabilitation or work in a sanctuary for animals abused in biomedical research and the exotic "pet" trade? Even working in a zoo would be preferable to a slaughterhouse. Nobody gets rich working to help animals. It's something one has to do with a great deal of passion for animals' well-being, even above their own.
Reminds me of the scene from Mr. Deeds: "You sir, what was your dream?" "To be a veterinarian." "Where do you work now?" "I own a chain of slaughterhouses." "Okay, kind of took a wrong turn."
I'd rather be unemployed to be honest.
Why would you even apply?? There has to be other options in your area.
There are always McDonalds hiring, call centers, leaflet givers needed and many other jobs. So it's usually the choice between one's moral values and better money.
It annoys me there's no YDI option because even if you really need a job, if you're that much of an animal lover you wouldn't apply there
Funniest thing I've read all day.
More people who love animals need to work there so that the mistreatment Peta likes to show everyone stops. So you can still do good with that situation!
