Today, it's my sixteenth birthday and my mom promised me she'd buy me a car. She came home with a toy lego car. FML

quit expecting everything to be handed to you. A lot of people don't get cars for their 16th birthday. A lot of people don't get their first car until after college and it's a piece of shit.

I didn't get a car until I was 18. It was in 1998, and I saved my money for two years and bought a '95 Honda Civic Ex. I miss that little car.

Sorry, but you deserve it. Get a job and pay for your own damn car. Spoiled brats like you make me sick.

I rode the bus all thru HS. It was alot easier especially in the winter. While my peers were shoveling 2ft of snow off their cars I just had to step outside 5 min before the bus arrived and get in. after school, buses had priority and left the parking lot first. I got home about 20-30 min before the car drivers.

So what? Your life does not suck because you didn't get a free car. Go get a job and work for a car if you want one so badly.

hey man that is awesome, cute and funny i applaud that baby!!! i'll remember that for my children ;) seriously though, relax you're 16 you have plenty of time to get a car, i'm 20 and never had one. i take public transportation and i hate it. I've been hit on, had men crap their pants next to me, been called a bitch etc. my mom totaled our car on new years day and to top it off we hit a priest. we've been with out a car for a couple years now. So chill out, it's not like your in college or are going to a job everyday and need one. it would be nice to go to a friend's house but you'll survive and you can find other ways to get to school.

how do you know he isn't going to a job every day? Plenty of high schoolers work.

really? i know many do in summer but during the school year? wow that seems like a lot. well maybe the op does, good point. you never know.

On my 16th my parents bought my 17 year old sister a brand new car. I got to drive the old minivan of theirs that she had been driving. (And no, I didn't get a new car the next year or any other year.) Your parents are obligated to provide you with food, clothing, and shelter. Everything else is optional and you should be grateful for what you get.

good lord, people. It's the fact that the mother promised a car, and then was a cheapskate and cheated here way out of it. If it had been concert tickets to a band, and instead got him a bootleg of the studio version, it could still be up here. Spoiled brats are brats, but it's the fact that THE MOM LED THE OP TO BELIEVE A CAR WAS EXPECTED, THEN BROKE IT.
