Today, it's my sixteenth birthday and my mom promised me she'd buy me a car. She came home with a toy lego car. FML

quit expecting everything to be handed to you. A lot of people don't get cars for their 16th birthday. A lot of people don't get their first car until after college and it's a piece of shit.

next time you should ask her to be more specific. yknow, a lot of legal battles are won due to lack of specification from either party. so next time you're unsure about your mothers word, plead the fifth and call a lawyer!

Well it was no lie. I had to work hard for my first car. You'll feel better if you earn it. Your mom is kind of a dick though.

Don't listen to snickerdoodles. Every child in the US deserves a car on their 16th birthday regardless of the legal age of the state. I've been eating sack lunches for years to save up the money to buy my kid a car on her 16th. She didn't ask to be brought into the world -- we brought her here! Now that we brought her here, is she supposed to rot at home, or, God forbid, take public transportation (gasp!) Not giving a teenager a car is child abuse.

my parents bought me a car when I was 15, so I would have a year to practice driving a stick shift.

people on here are heartless... her mother said she would get her a car then that's what she expected! you probably told all of your friends too and that really sucks. ignore the dumbasses on this site who have nothing better to do with their days but pick on people because their lives are lame. sorry op but hopefully she has a real car waiting as a suprise...
