Today, it's the five year anniversary of my father's death. I was cuddling with my boyfriend and crying about how much I missed him. He replied with, "Sometimes, I think you just like to hear yourself talk." FML

i'm really sorry about your lost. my dad died when in 2005. i still cry about it and i always will and not because i wanna be over dramatic or "like to hear myself talk," but because someone very significant in your life has been taken away out of your control. anyways, i'm really sorry and your boyfriend sounds like a douche.

lol what an asshole. but it made me lol. and people need to stop saying "He's/She's a keeper."

D8 Wow that's a douche move, crying usually doesn't involve much talking though so maybe you do talk a lot. But still everyone cries in their own way, that was just really rude. Should have kicked him out, get someone who's more empathetic.

Um, yeah, say you wouldn't be mourning over it on the anniversary of their death. You're a total douchebag and/or a lying one.

I'm so sorry to hear that. My dad died when I was fourteen, and my boyfriend has no idea what to say when I talk about him, either. But at least he doesn't say stuff like that...

I don't think you ever get over losing someone, but honestly, you probably deserved it. Assuming this "boyfriend" isn't just some random asshole you picked up 3 weeks ago, he probably knows you pretty well. He probably also knows you're a drama queen, and he's probably tired of hearing you pity yourself for losing your father. Look on this comment thread. Plenty of other people have lost their fathers. You're not the only one, so you don't need to take up copious amounts of time making people feel sorry for you. I'm guessing this cuddly little sob session was going on pretty long. There's only so much time a person can express sympathy for something they can't feel or understand.

HER FATHER DIED!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE HAS A ******* RIGHT TO BE SAD!!!!!!!!! I DON'T CARE IF IT'S BEEN ONE YEAR, FIVE YEARS, OR TWENTY FREAKING YEARS SHE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO CRY!!!!! It doesn't mean that she hasn't accepted it! It doesn't mean that she doesn't appreciate the time she had with him! It doesn't mean that she just wants sympathy! It does mean that she misses him and she has the right to express that! Especially to her boyfriend the person who is supposed to love and respect her!!!!! (and to the people who give the pathetic excuse that maybe he's telling the truth.... well if this characteristic of her bugs him that much...why is he dating her???????? and if he loves her despite this and just wanted to make her aware of her supposed character flaw he picked a craptastic day to do it!!!!!) sorry if i sound like a bitch but you people frustrate me greatly! :) OP: best wishes. :)
