Today, it was my next-door neighbor's birthday. Over the past year, his pitbull has attacked my stepdad several times and put some stiches on me. Lucky for us, the dog was finally put down. For his birthday my neighbor got a new, bigger, pitbull. FML

this is bullshit. pits are amazing dogs, maybe its the owner whos the dumbass and raising them to be aggressive. its basically like raising a kid, teach them to rape and murder and 9 times out of 10 they'll grow up with the mindset that its ok. its people who dont understand this that give pits a bad rep, and another reason that theyre nearly outlawed.

Pitbulls should be outlawed, I was walking down the street and one almost attacked me because some ****-tard let it off it's leash.

Pitbulls can be great dogs it's just the owners...don't blame the breed while they have a tendency to be mean dogs it is the owners fault whether they realize what they do wrong or not. And that's what leash laws are for. If there aren't in your area or something stating only if they are under the owner's control(well obviously that one wasn't) but you should then start a petition or something to get some leash law.

if an off-leash dog wanted to attack you, it would have. If the owner was able to stop it, call it back, etc. it did not want to attack you. it sounds like the dog just ran up and barked at you (like almost any dog would).Also, a pitbull's temper is directly related to the way it was bred, and the environment it grows up in. Their behaviour is not influenced by "brain swelling" , and they do not have "lock-jaw" like most ignorant people say. If you watch a show like Criminal Minds, you may realize that violence is usually a result of a poor home or surroundings. Just thought I'd say that to all the people who say pitbulls are bad because the news said so. Ceasar Milan is also kind of an idiot.

that's just irresponsible on their part. if you're going to get a hard-to-manage dog, you have to take the measures to manage it, as in, get a leash, a fence or something. i don't care how much you love your dog, but if your dog attacks it sure as hell better at least be on a leash, otherwise, i'm sueing you for all you're worth. i've been attacked by my fair share of dogs.

I think a lot of you are neglecting the fact that op said the new dog is bigger than the old dog. This probably means the dog is not a puppy and will be extremely hard to teach (or re-teach) if it's already been brought up with bad or aggresive manners if you will. Also, chihuahuas do bite more people but honestly, which dog will cause more damage? The pit bull. They were bred to have an aggresive nature. But of course it depends how the dog is raised. People say that about boxers too, and my boxer was the sweetest dog. So what I was getting at is it doesn't matter if chihuahuas bite more people each year. You're more likely to get killed by a dog than a shark, but that has nothing to do with this! And honestly, what is op going to do? Go to their neighbr and say "hey! How's it goin?..... Oh good. And btw train your dog not to bite me!" I just don't see that goiing well at all...

My dad found a pit-bull & before keeping it wanted to do research on them... when he did he found out that dalmations are the dogs most likely to turn on their owners & now we've had the pit-bull for the last... i'd say 7 years, best dog i ever had.. VERY loyal (would walk around the yard to make sure the little kids wouldn't leave it), & a major wimp (my dad went for a walk early in the morning & the dog barked at him as he walked up to the house to scare him away, my dad OBVIOUSLY wasn't scared & kept walking & the dog ran away XD ) plus, my pit-bull plays tug-o-war with my 3 year old sister & lets her win, then drags my dad around the house XD

That really sucks. Definitely get a taser or a gun. Or just learn how to defend yourself from a dog. OR you can always feed it meat with chopped up glass.
