Today, marks yet again another day that I've been asked if I'm autistic. No, that's just my Korean accent. Apparently I look "too white" to have one. FML

Even if you were autistic, why would they ask?

It's sad how much people are judged based upon their looks these days, Sorry OP

Sooo according to that kind of people, if I have a strange accent in english or french or I don't know maybe swedish, I automatically become autistic? Yeah, seems totally legit to me...

I too find it weird that they didn't ask where op was from (due to the accent) as oppose to asking if they were autistic.

I'm actually not surprised. With the diagnosis rate of Autism rising and Autism being talked about in the media without the actual understanding of what Autism actually is changing, a lot of people assume that anytime someone exhibits any "strange" or unexpected behavior it is caused by Autism. I have two young children and anytime they act out in public I get one of two responses: either I get told I'm a bad parent or I get asked if they are Autistic. It's extremely ignorant, but it's not surprising to me.

that's makes that person look very stupid.

Too white? Skin color doesn't mean anyrhing.,.

I think the perpetrator(s) meant that OP looks too white to have a Korean accent.

Their comment makes no sense. Where do they live & how sheltered have they been if they think white people can't have accents? They must think all of the UK is autistic as well. Idiots.

You're missing the point... if it was a British accent they wouldn't have said anything since its not unusual to find white people with a British accent, but because they assumed OP was white, they thought that there was no way he could have a Korean accent.

This is not surprising. OP doesn't fit into the preconceived box. I have Chinese friends from Brazil and people are stunned when they hear them speak Spanish. I've also got white friends raised in Jamaica and people are stunned to hear the Jamaican accent.

21 - we understand that, you just repeated it for nothing...

Hey man. I'm Korean too. At least they weren't racist to you am I right? XD it often sucks to be Asian in public because often times strangers are racist to you and make fun of you. I know that feel bro. Be proud if your heritage. Korea has always been badass!!

I find Asian guys so sexy (usually), although when I see them in public they always seem so shy and when I talk to them they think I'm just joking or being polite. Makes me so sad. This one guy told me I could stop faking it and go talk to my friends again, and I literally had to spell it out for him: "I am attracted to Asians. I find you very handsome and I am trying to hit on you for ***** sake. So give me that phone number before I kiss you right here right now. :"D" So yeah, my message to Asian boys: don't be so shy, there's tons of girls who think you're super cute and hot and yummy. There's even Facebook groups for Asian men and white women (AMWF). So yeah. Don't be shy. ;3

stupid people... don't know how to talk to other people.. how on earth they can mix autism and accent and comment on it...

I remember back when I was in 6th grade, these douchebag 8th graders looked at me and asked if I was in Special Ed.

Sad how autistic is the first conclusion everyone jumps to.

It really is. Drives me insane. If people would take two seconds to attempt to understand what Autism actually is, they would make ignorant comments like this.

Since when would having an accent make you autistic? And even if you were, that's rude to say it
