Agreed, kt. Although I don't ever want kids either, I have to admit that stories like this make me feel almost obligated to have a few, for society's sake. If people with sense don't raise the next generation— and it seems like a lot of the peers I really respect are also "childless by choice"— I'm not sure I want to live to a ripe ol' age. O.o

I definitely would NEVER have said such a thing. Eight is well past the age where a child can understand what selfishness and greed are and the importance of *not* being those things, as well as how to show gratitude, respect for parents and respect for others' feelings. This kid is being bratty, period. She ought to be disciplined in whatever way will affect her the most.

53 very true. But what we don't no is how she said it. (in what tone and manner she said it in.) I agree if it was in a kids way (with no thought) it's a kid thing. if so happens she was having a fit and can't take no as an answer. then some type of punishment is in order. but there is still need to remember it's an 8 year old kid when doing so. I don't care what anyone says sometimes the only thing kids understand is to be hit. (this should be done right too. by tell your kid what he/she did first so they know why they got hit and have some type of understanding. don't misunderstand me hitting is not the only type of punishment there is so pick and choose with thought not out of rage.

i agree with 53 i was a little brat when i was 8 i still am :P bitch slapping her or hitting her wont solve anything... its cruel and unecessary there are other ways to punish a child. luckaly ( or whatever its spelled for all u gramar b*tches ) my parets didnt hit me or non of that but i still learned discipline by getting grounded and stuff, OP just give it some time and dont take it personally
