Today, my boss told me that my attitude to work is awesome and that he'd follow my example of coming in half-an-hour early every day from now on. I relish those 30 minutes as the only time I can get work done without him constantly interrupting me. So much for that. FML

Sounds like the only thing left to do is stay 30 minutes late. Then when he starts staying late too, come in on Saturday. Then when he starts coming in Saturday... You know what, just move into your office. That's your only choice.

Come in thirty minutes earlier. Then when he follows that example you can change your schedule again. It will become a game!

What do you do for a living, op? This sounds an awful lot like my line of work. I get more done in the half hour before everyone else shows up than I do for the rest of the day.

ha well if I were u I would've been honest am told him the truth so in the long run there's no problems ya know he should respect and understand.

Oh so that is why some people arrive really early. I'll stay away from them in their sacred time. Good luck OP. I liked your attitude.

Might be best to thank your boss for the thought and the compliment, while explaining to him your reasoning for coming in early. He may take the hint and either come in at his regular time or come in early and use the time to get a head srart on HIS work. Hopefully leaving you in peace for that 1/2 hour.

For whatever reason, he sounds like the kind of guy who won't stick to that schedule for very long.

Well, I guess it isn't all that bad, your boss actually recognizes hard workers!

Arrive even earlier or stay later...or take your work home...

At least you have a boss and what seems to be a nice job.
