Hi guys! I'm the OP :) I'm 19, and my boyfriend's 20. I thought LotR was better, personally. To be fair, I've only seen one of the Star Wars movies, and he's only seen half of one of the LotR movies, so we were both a little biased. This was last night though, and by the morning, it was forgotten. We're all good now. Thanks for your comments! :)

same. I think both are amazing, although it is hard to compare two totally different stories. but I love Lord of the Rings.

Yeah, I'm camp LOTR too. But I haven't seen the movies (and don't even want to see them), but absolutely love the books! They are magical.

Love Lord of The Rings and Star Wars, you should really watch the movies together and see why the other might like another one. They're both great movies
We have plans to sit down and watch both of the series together, but we're probably still gonna be biased as he grew up with Star Wars, and I grew up with LotR, which we've both accepted :)
Umm no Star Wars is infinitely better than lotr. Way more stories and background and is currently expanding everyday

@257 Actually you're wrong about the back story. Have you ever heard of the Salamurian (probably spelled that wrong) or the Hobbit? Both of those explain the world of Lord of the Rings. The first one I mentioned is basically a lotr bible. Star wars is great but it wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for lotr.

The LotR books were far before Star Wars. The Hobbit was 1937, LotR was 1954, Star Wars Episode IV was 1977. Also LotR wins.

Hey OP you do realise they are 2 seperate genres, styles, and ere's. It's like comparing bacon to strawberries. I myself grew up on starwars as a kid, lotr didn't become popular till '04 at the release of 2 towers i believe. Were starwars came out in the 80s.
