amburrjade tells us more.
Hi guys! I'm the OP :) I'm 19, and my boyfriend's 20. I thought LotR was better, personally. To be fair, I've only seen one of the Star Wars movies, and he's only seen half of one of the LotR movies, so we were both a little biased. This was last night though, and by the morning, it was forgotten. We're all good now. Thanks for your comments! :)

They are both awesome. And you can't compare them, two different genres. Their both the best in their genres.
I can't tell if you deserved it or not without knowing which you thought is better
Both are awesome but both are overrated. I'd probably sat Lord of the Rings is better but they're two very different things.
Ewok movies, the worst of both Star Wars and LotR, rolled up into a pair of life scaring movies.
The fact that people legitimately argue, without sarcasm, that LOTR is better than Star Wars Is disappointing. Those movies were boring as shit.
Read the books. Tolkein created an entire world and a detailed history in a few books. Star wars showed a few scenes of deserts and snow and a half assed plot. I practically grew up with starwars and loved them but LOTR has been the best fantasy series written since the late 40's.
I agree, the books are awesome. Well, once you get past the first chapter, that one seemed long as hell. But the rest is intense and wonderful and they summon up pictures in your head like few other books manage to do. Once you read those books they live in your head, take up residence and never leave again.
Can't talk about lotr without talking about the books.
obviously its star wars, let me know when lotr hits their 30 plus year anniversary and see who is still talking about it
Lord of the Rings was written in 1955 and the prequel The Hobbit was written in 1937 so they are 78 and 60 years old. They are still such big hits that after so many years the movies based off them were popular enough to rival star wars.
#234 I'll get the ice.
they do have their similarities, both are epic trilogies with worthless prequel trilogies

That's a very serious argument.
