Hi guys! I'm the OP :) I'm 19, and my boyfriend's 20. I thought LotR was better, personally. To be fair, I've only seen one of the Star Wars movies, and he's only seen half of one of the LotR movies, so we were both a little biased. This was last night though, and by the morning, it was forgotten. We're all good now. Thanks for your comments! :)

Yeah I was a bit surprised too when I realized no one made a reference to that movie either, so I added one. Also you thank you too for understanding the reference, unlike some people who are likely to take offence to it without realizing where it actually came from. I'm glad I could make someone happy.

Star Wars wins by far. In bored of the rings, they had giant ridable eagles yet still. chose to walk for 3 long boring movies. kind of .like the sword in Pacific Rim

Only Gandalf knew of the eagle plan. When he said "Fly, you fools!" the others didn't understand what he meant by it

According to the book- the eagles couldn't fly freely through Middle-Earth because of the risk of being shot down by 'men with great bows of yew.' Gandalf had before gained their trust by healing the leaders arrow wound.

Also, they'd be corrupted by the Ring because they are noble beings like elves. Remember, Boromir only held the Ring for a few seconds and got all murdery. An Eagle would have made a snack of Frodo and taken the Ring after just a few miles.

Plus the Eagles weren't Gandalf's to command; they probably wouldn't have consented to carry the Fellowship across the entire country, especially considering how dangerous it would've been for them. The Nazgûls' Fell Beasts would have probably snacked on the eagles.
