Today, my boyfriend and I were out shopping. As he was trying on shirts, I told him that the particular shirt he was wearing looked ugly. He turned around, sighed, and said "You think? Well, your face is ugly, but you don't see me complaining about it." He was serious. FML

than why is he with you if he thinks you're so ugly?

you should have said:" you're dick is ugly, but you don't see me complaining!"

maybe he took it as you telling him he looked ugly in the shirt and was hurt. still a jerky thing to say though.

Every guy I know would have said something like that, they hate it when someone disses the clothes they like. He obviously liked the shirt, so you should have stayed quiet if you didn't like it. And he probably didn't mean the insult.

test my new account and you unfortunately be my frist mocking target!

Never ask a woman's oppinion when shopping...

why are you still with him your stupied if you are.

Yup, agree 110 %. If he can't take an honest opinion about clothes, and resorts to unnecessary bashing you should dump him.

YDI for two reasons: 1) You insulted him first. 2) You ended it with "He was serious" like 45% of other FMLs -_-

1. It wasn't a PERSONAL remark like his was, nor was it a malicious insult like his was. Critical observation =/= insult. 2. People when making such retorts are usually joking - the fact that he wasn't seems to be pivotal to this fml, and so it was apt that she included it, clichéd or not. Summary - the guy was a complete douche.

So true, Mermaid. The FML cliches are almost as bad as the MLIA cliches. I always wonder how the posters know the other person is serious. Some people just deadpan really well. A more accurate ending would be "I took him seriously."
