I'm guessing that maybe OP is actually pretty young. And by the 2001 in the username, I'd say she's about 14 years old. If so, then her boyfriend is just an immature kid. But don't worry, OP, you're still young, you'll meet a nice guy someday and probably forget about this.

It sounds like he was already planning on breaking up with you. If you're going to be single, you don't want people assuming that you're in a relationship. Mind you, I still think his response was a cop-out, but I understand why he might have done so.
