Today, my boyfriend came over to celebrate our anniversary. He had a card written in crayon with my name spelled wrong, and a basket I had seen his mother throw in the trash filled with flower petals ripped from my mom's garden. Our anniversary was 3 days ago. FML

It doesn't say you dated for long, but he sounds like a really crappy guy. On the other hand, crayons are cute, the thought counts, then again, if he fails to spell your name...oh god

I'd say that he got a basket from his mom's trash filled with flowers from his girlfriend's mom's garden. So it's a mix of both of their moms.

If he did the crayon thing on purpose and put silly illustrations in it with people with wheel feet, awesome - but it still doesn't negate the creepy flower / basket thing.

Wow! Lol I dunno but at least he tried. Who has money to buy lavish gifts these days??!! Its your choice woman: A roof or a ring! As hes the man and is probaly paying the bills! So be grateful theres a lot of single women struggling financially because they dont have a man!

Spelling your girlfriend's name correctly on a card doesn't cost anything. She wasn't asking for lavish gifts. Getting nothing would be better than getting a basket from the trash and flower petals stolen from my mom's garden.

Kindness, I'm just going to say this. 2.5 years is nothing. I was with a girl for 4.5 years starting freshmen year of high school. We thought we were going to get married too, but broke up. Don't be so sure because one day you could be blindsided like me. Now almost two years later I've been happily dating someone for 1 year and however many months and am happy again. Don't be so sure your perfect relationship of 2.5 years is so perfect. I don't know you and I'm not saying it isn't perfect, but everything happens for a reason. Have a good night fmlers.

There's no real way to know the quality of this FML without knowing the OP's age. If they're 14... well he's a little dumb but his heart's in the right place and he'll learn. If they're 18 he might not learn so good. If they're 30 (and both living with their parents) it's an FML on many different levels.
