The de-stress thing might hold weight though, he lives alone so he either has rich and very nice parents, or a job. And I can't speak for anyone else, but for me being home alone with nothing to do but play video games is a dream come true.

By 'his own man cave' she could've also meant that as 'away from me, if you must.' OP might have thought it a fair compromise, and you can also have separate rooms and a roommate or two, especially if there's a garage or den.

He already has his own man-house. He may not have the desire for sex and thus sees no reason to downgrade from a man-house to a man-room.
