It's definitely a kink thing, and if it weirds you out op just talk to him about it. I wouldn't say it's a reason to leave him unless the two of you can't work past it.

My (ex) girlfriend would act like a baby, calling me "dada", making baby sounds, and clinging to my leg. It was incredibly creepy, and only after I got properly annoyed at her would she stop. Of course, the only other alternative was for her to get incredibly pissed at me because I didn't "value how cute she was". Sometimes it's a no-win situation.

A couple I knew for YEARS was into the DDLG thing and we had no idea until a drunken conversation slip-up occurred. There was a 10 year age difference, and we used to tease him by asking which playground he picked her up at... those jokes IMMEDIATELY stopped being funny. What consenting adults choose to do is their choice, but it is definitely strange to watch something so personal get outted.
