Today, my boyfriend took me to his grandfather's funeral. At the reception, his family members insist on hearing me play piano. After getting positive reactions, I dive into one of my favorites, Rustle of Spring. In 2 seconds everyone bursts into tears. That was Papa's favorite too. FML

If I was his family, I probably would have been touched. So don't feel too bad!

Don't feel bad, I'm sure they will appreciate it a little later. It's okay.

It's a repast, not a reception. I'm just saying.

I'm sure that it was actually really nice thing for you to do.

Now if you played a song "papa" hated, then it would be an FML.

Wow your life sucks, you played the recently deceased's favorite song. How do you live with yourself?

I.. don't see how this is a FYL at all.

the FML refers to the embarassement of the moment, OP never stated that he's been hated or that there've been any negative consequences.

You know, it's just not fair that an "FML" like this gets posted, yet none of mine have ever been.

It's not a bad thing. A guy played a song at my friends funeral that she loved, it was very sweet. Not a bad thing.

Don't f your life over it. You can play it in his memory.

This isn't a bad thing. They were crying because they were really touched, not because they were offended. I agree with #17
