Today, my boyfriend, who's a bit older than me, introduced me to his daughter. I was expecting a toddler. Nope, she's a year older than me. FML

And you're still trying to convince yourself he's only "a bit older"?

That's not a 'bit older'. Let's say you're the minimum consenting age in most states, 18. That would mean she is 19. If he had her at ... let's be really generous and say 16 (it happens), that would make him 35. That is pretty much the most generous guess I can make. If he was also consenting age, it makes him 37, etc. We're looking at an age gap that is at the minimum, about the length of your life. Pretty notable.

So basically your boyfriend isn't "a bit" older at all. You're just dating someone who's old enough to be your dad - YDI.

Damn... and I mean DAMN. I'm so glad that my boyfriend is 5 months younger than me.

all of your math is wrong. it doesn't explain how much older the daughter is than her.. there is not enough information to create an equation. the daughter could be a month older.. or 2 years older. plus you don't know how old the boyfriend was when his daughter was born..

well that would make motherhood akward

alright. let's say you're 16. his daughter would be 17. if he had her young, say at 16, he would have to be 33 years old. soo...a "bit" older?

maybe a only bit older measured using dinosaur year
