Today, my child-hating friend who vowed never to have any no matter what, announced that she's pregnant. I've had three IVF cycles, spent $90k in fertility treatments, and still can't conceive. FML

This is why it pisses me off when people say, "Don't have an abortion! Put it up for adoption so someone who can't have babies will look after it!" People who can't have babies don't adopt. They waste thousands upon thousands on fertility treatment and surrogates. YDI OP. 90K? Adopting is expensive but if you hadn't wasted that money trying to splurt out something genetically related to you, you might have been a parent right now.

so you believe in murder? cause that's what abortion really is. killing a precious baby that never had a chance to live? alright then. maybe you should realize that sometimes even though the mom at first plans abortion she switches to adoption and ends up keeping the baby.

No I don't believe in murder. I just think it's sad that our society is so self centered that adoption isn't a viable argument against abortion when it could be and should be. But heaven forbid people admit that their genetics are just as crappy as everyone elses.

Wow while that's saddly ironic you should have considered adopting. There are so many children with awful lives you could have bettered. I have so many friends who have gone down that route some of whom already have biological children and others who are infertile who realized they'd be wasting money on treatments that might not work when children are going unloved. It's pure selfishness and narcissism to spend that kind of money as if your biology is better than anyone elses. I know all the bleeding heat women out there will likely thumb this down so I have to say I'm also an infertile married woman. I'm just one who sees reality not blind selfish emotion.

310---- yes!! I'm adopted, by two people who could not conceive and thought it selfish, senseless, and wasteful to do fertility treatments. I had a great life. More babies would if more people thought like you (and my parents)

I feel the same way.. I haven't spent money yet like that, but my friends who hate kids are preggers while I've been trying to conceive with mah husband for 2 years. Adoption would be our best bet IMO.
