why would they give you notice you were being let go...first off they have 90 days to decide if you are worthy of keeping
Companies don't give advance notice when they're going to fire you.
This happens more often than people think. Happened to my wife (we even invited her boss to the wedding) and a coworker of mine. Sorry, OP, but remember... for better or worse, 'til death do you part!
I want to hear the other side to this story. A company doesn't let you go for no reason. (Unless they're going bankrupt)
I'm not sure if the rules are different in the States than in Canada, but over here if it's within 3 months (the probationary period), they are able to fire you without notice or reason. If they fire you beyond that, they need a reason. And to the people saying "why would they give you notice if they were firing you", maybe OP has only ever been laid off before, in which case, employers will often try and give their employees some notice.
They can't do that
This is what happens when you live in a Right to Work State. Yes, it sucks, hugely, but most people overlook the "fine print" that states you can walk away from a job OR they can fire you WITHOUT prior notice. The two weeks notice given to employers is out of courtesy and so we don't look bad when we move on to find a new job. They don't have to give a reason or give notice if they want to fire you.
If it was within three months they're allowed to do that. They don't need a reason, and they don't need to give you any notice. I do realize you said AFTER three months, but that could have meant either nearly three months or over three months. But anyway, I'm sorry to hear about that. That truly sucks!
if you were layed off that isn't legal

Are they allowed to do that? I thought jobs had to give you notice.
Damn that's a lot of bills to pay without a job. FYL
