Today, my coworker and I were written up after we dropped a glass table, which shattered and left us with big cuts on our hands and arms. We weren’t written up for breaking the piece, but because a nearby customer heard us both swear in pain and reported us. FML

People are too ******* sensitive about swear words. Oh no, someone said a word that doesn't target anyone! Better whine about it, because how dare someone make a delicate little religious flower hear a word! The people that lose their minds over it because it's a "bad influence" on their children are just as bad. If you can't parent, you spawn well enough that they use a word after you tell them not to, chances are that you suck as a parent in general.

At school, we had "the hammer rule" where, if you hit your finger with a hammer (or any other sudden injury) anything said immediately after wasn't breaking the no-swearing rule

That's honestly an excellent policy, and one that every school should use.

The boss and the customer are both assholes. Ideally store/restaurant/hotel employees would not swear while on the clock (or even on the property), but if they have an accident that causes an injury, I'd be inclined to cut them a little slack. I mean, if the customer heard them swearing, s/he probably also heard them drop the table and maybe saw that they were injured but nooo, even if you're cut to hell, you better watch your mouth, buster.
