Why are people so unnecessarily NASTY about FMLs? So what if the OP got a laptop...it doesn't make them spoiled. I would be a little annoyed if I got a laptop and a.) Found out it was an exchange, not a gift and b.) it wasn't as good as the one I had previously. There are all ranges of FML on here...just because they're not ALL from impoverished orphans who get dumped at the altar, doesn't make the other OPs any less deserving. RE-LAX!

#18 deserves a round of applause. I'm sick of FMLs where people are like "Oh, you must be a spoiled bitch you have a laptop, iPhone, car and whatever else" Relax. Calm down. Some people work hard for stuff while others are handed it. Just because you don't get what you want doesn't mean everyone else is spoiled. What people aren't understanding about this is the fact it was a BIRTHDAY GIFT. When somebody hands you your birthday gift, I'm sure you're not supposed to trade them something for it. If you do, it's not a gift.

I would keep both - they were both given as gifts and you keep them both BECAUSE they were gifts... if you feel the need to give one away, do so but people can't just TAKE your presents.. that just sucks..

This is an FML if you bought the more expensive laptop yourself. I would never take something of my child's and swap it for a crap one if she bought it herself with her own money.
I would never do it period. What the hell kind of person takes back a gift they give their child, replacing it with utter crap?
just sell the new one and don't give him the old one. or give him an even shittier laptop for his next birthday. seriously, don't be a ******* doormat.

WTH?! she isn't spoiled for getting a downgraded laptop! how many of you on here are typing comments from a computer or ipod touch/iphone that was given to you by a parent?? how many of you have a video game console that was a present? your parents probably still take your ass to the mall and buy your clothes too then bash on everybody else.
im using the family PC my mom is the one with an ipod touch... and my mom doesnt take me anywhere.
Doesn't make it bad or make someone else spoiled if they get a laptop for a gift. Sorry but no.... just means their family might have a bit more disposable income or slightly diff values in some things... perhaps there's a diff in age ranges too or maybe the person's done something more/diff....
I bought my first computer myself. With money I earned. So...yeah.
Why don't you just give him the new one if your old one is better? Tell him that the real gift is if he would stop eying your laptop now that he'll have his own.
