Today, my doctor confirmed that the extreme pain I've been experiencing is due to a kidney stone. My friend decided this was the time to tell me that passing a kidney stone is the male equivalent of child birth. Hello even more pain. FML

Damn, you must be in a pissy mood. Try and see if getting stoned will help alleviate your pain.

yes but labor lasts 4 to 8 hours does passing a stone take that long?

Where are you getting that labor lasts 4 to 8 hours? 42 hours was my longest. Anyway, there is no equivalent to childbirth so I don't know why people even compare the two. Personally, I think kidney stones hurt more (sorry, OP) because it's a constant, uncertain pain.

42hrs!!! And they didn't induce you? Sounds like malpractice unless the kid was premature.

Took my boyfriend almost two months to pass his.

I get the feeling there's some really pissy women here. My comment saying kidney stones can last up to days was voted down. Stating unbiased facts is not allowed when grouchy women are on patrol.

Hey cool! Now you're ready for your sex change!

I have to be completely honest here. I have two children and I have also had kidney stones. The kidney stones were worse. However, I had two very short and easy labors and epidurals. Everyone's pain tolerance is different and everyone's experience will be differerent.

Uh, how can you say birthing wasn't the worst if you had an epidural? Isn't that supposed to take away the pain? That defeats the purpose of comparing the pain. Just saying.

Your penis doesn't have to be stitched up after from being torn apart, and I'm guessing you don't have a man begging you for sex like month later, right?Lol...I'm sorry labor and childbirth is WAY worse, not only for the whole labor part, but the recovery.

I agree that pain is different for everyone but the truth is my body was not designed to piss stones but it was designed to bear children. You can talk recovery if you want to. Hell, you can even throw in that once the stone is out it's easier to care for. Doesn't change the fact that the actual pain in passing is being discussed.

So...contuinuing to be nice would be the best mean!

Yes, your body is made to go through childbirth. It doesn't make it less painful, actually it sounds like you are trivializing it. Flesh tearing vs. some urethral stretching and abrasions? No comparison, I've been through both. Though childbirth was considerably worse, the end result was amazing. Looking at your new baby is what makes it all worthwhile and bearable, maybe in some way we are both right? :)

I'm not trying to trivialise it at all. I've been through it more than once and it was never easy. And I do agree that the reward of the experience makes the pain almost forgettable. If not, I would never have done it again. But a kidney stone is un-accomodating. It can be jagged and there is no stretching at all. If you do not dialate to 10 cm, most doctors won't even attempt a vaginal birth. There's no other way out for that stone.

OOH! Sorry, apparently I suck at spelling.

Dammit, OTBG, don't you know how to spell "expeireienceing?" Schitzo, you got it wrong too, dummy.

Dr. Bastard, forgive me. I'm just an idiotic girl who can't spell expeierenceing correctly. ):

I was jk god can anyone take a joke

Just hope that you can pass it, and that you don't need surgery for it.

just my lil tidbit: I have given birth to a 9lb 11oz 9.5 inch long child. I was given the option of an epidural because my blood pressure was high from pain so the birth was so easy and painless. I also have passed a kidney stone and I must say it was probably the worst day of my life. it hurt SO bad. I agree the mans "pee hole" is much smaller than a womans ******...plus, to prepare for childbirth, the ****** and cervix stretch...a mans penis does not. FYL OP. (grammar Nazis can suck it, thanks :] )

Women pass stones through their urethra, just as men do. It is no less painful for women than men.

I heard having a kidney stone is like pissing razors
