Seems if it happens every night, you should be smart enough to put it in a place the dog can't get it.
You should never let a dog eat cat food, it's not good for them. Not to mention the fact that you are stupid enough to allow your dog to keep repeating this behavior - even though you KNOW he's doing it. Discipline the dog for once.
Cat food is absolutely HORRIBLE for dogs. To them, it's like eating candy, that is why they enjoy it so much. You're allowing this day after day without punishing the dog. You are teaching it this bad behavior. You have NO ONE to blame but yourself. Either find a way to keep the dog off the table (not sure how big it is), or move the cat food to a place where it wont reach it. Cat food shouldn't be on your dining room table to begin in the first place. YDI
YDI for allowing your dog to control you. You have the send the message that you're in charge and there are things they are not allowed to do. A pack dog would never do these type of things to the leader/alpha dog. Since he does them to you, it shows, lack of respect for you.
All the judgmental people freaking out over you feeding the cat on the table... OP, it's your table, and your cat. If the table works best, and you're okay with it, just use your table. When they have cats, they can feed their cats wherever they want. Most people I know only eat at the dining room table two or three times a year anyway, if at all. You shouldn't be allowing the dog to eat the cat food, though. As said before, it will just destroy your dog's body over time. You're going to have to move the cat food some where that he can't keep getting to it, or lock the dog out of the room at feeding time.
Cats constantly step in their own poop and pee multiple times a day. Dog do the same. The germs alone is enough reason to be grossed out. Not to mention animal hair directly on the surface where (if OP anyone else does) people eat. It's not sanitary. You can't really argue it is either. Yea it's their table and they can do what ever, it doesn't mean it isn't nasty.
I mine got stuck on the table I'd be on hysterics. Every now and then I catch mine climbing up on my outside table and just chilling. I correct him when I catch him then walk away and bust out laughing.
Your dog shouldn't be allowed on the dining room table ydi
