#43 you ******* retard you dont need a leash if it is in its backyard

It says it was in the backyard? Where?

it doesnt say it was in a yard, but it doesn't say it was in public either.

this is just part of the food chain

I disagree, rat dogs good for owl food

she doesn't deserve it for having a small dog.. large birds swoop down and take puppies and kittens all the time..

must have been a small dog...

maybe op lives some where that doesn't allow dogs over a certain weight or maybe the dog was a puppy and maybe it was a big owl. whatever happened it's sad. I'm sorry for your loss OP

If the dog was scooped up by an owl it's been eaten by now. While I hate dogs with an undying passion I am certainly sympathetic to you, OP, for losing your pet in such a horrible manner. Condolances on this loss. But let this be a lesson to you. Dogs should be leashed at all times. If the dog had been leashed then you would have been in close proximity to him. The owl would then have been unlikely to go after him since predators tend to be scared off by humans. Even if the owl had the audacity to try to get your pet, you'd have had the other end of the leash and could have fought the owl for your pet's life. Your pup would have gotten a good neck wrench but it beats being an owl's meal. If the dog was loose in your own yard, he should have had a human with him. You don't have to follow him around while he does his business, just be in the area so that other animals see your presence. Again, the proximity of a human makes a pet an unlikely target for predators, who will move along in search of an easy mark. Learned this when I was a kid; the same thing happened to a neighbor's dog, who was scooped up right in the middle of taking a poo in his own back yard. Our back yard abutted theirs and we heard him screaming clear as a bell. It was simply awful. Sadly their children witnessed the event and cried for ages. I felt terrible for them. They thought the dog was safe because they had a fence. They had no idea an owl could do such a thing. So attention small pet owners; if given the chance owls will steal your little pal and eat it so please be cautious.

You do fancy your enter key, don't you?

blah blah blah blah blah.. I think if I actually read that whole thing my dog would have already been scooped up by an owl.. learn to shorten and make people want to read (;

ok. No People do not scare predators away simple fact. Also, little fido would've been killed as soon as the owl picked it up. The talons would have gone so deep that it fatally damaged the internal organs or even worse punctured and break the major blood vessels once in awhile owls will miss the quick and easy death and cause prolonged pain and suffering until the animal is out of blood. A leash would have been a bad idea owls are strong and determined the dog would've been dead and IF the owner did win the FML would be. "an owl attacked my dog today. He won. now I have to burry him."

people don't scare predators of small animals, simple fact? I remember last time I got within arms reach of a bird of prey. It ate my tootsie roll pop right out of my hand, and I only took three licks.

You're so right. Better to just shoot your dog as soon as you get him so the owls don't kill him.

It makes reading easier for the retards, retard.

now im worried that will happen to mine...

Same, I got 2 beagles and a 2 year old labridor...

A dog equipped with leather armour studded with razor-sharp spines very rarely gets taken by a bird.

well that owl is probably mentally stupid the dog is too
