He needs to dry his eyes and get over it.
She should've at least warned you or asked for your consent.
Probably should have kept the receipt to that gift..
Could you not "accidentally" leave the door open so it happens to run free in the wild...
It's in a cage right?
It doesn't sound like it
caging a tarantula is probably not a good idea. needs to be in a tank
No, you're supposed to use a cage since they have mesh wire tops. Some custom tarantula cages have wire "windows" on the side that don't open, because they don't release moisture as quickly as cages that have their mesh/openings on the top. As long as the openings lock, your tarantula won't get out. EDIT: Just realized you meant cage as in a full-wire/metal cage instead of an acrylic cage with a wire top. My bad!
How thoughtful of her *sarcasm* I'd say wait until she's gone and then find a new home for the little guy. Some people love them as pets! It's kind of mean to her but it would have been nice to take your personal fears into consideration!
Here's a thought, put the damn thing in a cage.

I would thank her for that and kindly mention your fear of spiders, and ask to get another pet together.
Blah, that is not a good pet
