Well, looks like it's time to burn the house down.
That's what I was thinking. First thought was, is she doing this to trigger an argument about how much she doesn't even know him which hopefully ends up in a break up. Well at least he can fling the damn thing at her right out of its tank when it's over. But I'm guessing with their 8 legs those things hang on real good.
It may be that she legitimately didn't know he was afraid of spiders. She might have thought a tarantula was a cool pet and didn't think he'd be the type of guy to be scared of tarantulas. It's hard for some people to admit what they're scared of. I dated a guy for a whole year before I ever learned he was afraid of snakes, and I only learned it by accident, so I wouldn't go assigning her bad motives just yet, 87.
Actually, #98, the problem isn't just if she knew or didn't know about his fear. When you live with someone, "surprise" pets are never a good idea (whether it's for you or for them). You should always discuss when pets should be added into the household, it's just irresponsible not to. And it's how a lot of animals get dumped in shelters.
KILL IT WITH FIRE
As much as I'm also afraid of spiders I would love one as a pet, definitely not a surprise pretty though. Still I do agree, that suck OP.
Because it's always a good idea to get a pet without asking the other person first ... (or if you've talked at length about it before und are sure about the responsibility). Just like all of those parents who buy their children the newest trend pet without any knowledge and then dump them at the next street corner for "making too much work" asshats.
The weird thing is, my name IS Jeff and I'm also terrified of spiders.
Wow she doesn't know you at all, you 2 should really get to know each other better
14- No, he needs to burn his house down.
Surprise pets are generally not a good idea. You don't want to end up in a situation like this where the recipient doesn't want to take care of the pet.
Keywords
I would thank her for that and kindly mention your fear of spiders, and ask to get another pet together.
Blah, that is not a good pet
