Today, my girlfriend broke up with me, saying, "I'm not ready for a serious relationship." We're supposed to get married in a month. FML

Look at it this way A broken engagement is a lot cheaper then a divorce , & you get to keep all your shit

Better finding out now than after a costly wedding and a costly divorce! With all the money you saved, you can splurge on some high-end hookers -- ones with real vaginas and/or all of their teeth (or none if their teeth. With hookers, teeth are an all-or-nothing proposition.)

Chances are though, that they won't be able to get a refund on a lot of these things, especially only a month prior, there are some things that would offer insurance for an extra price for if things didn't turn out, but I imagine a lot of couples would skip on that because they are assuming someone isn't going to leave them a month before the wedding. It's definitely good that she figured it out before the wedding, but it's a shame she couldn't figure it out before any of the planning. @OP, I'm really sorry that this happened to you, I hope that a lot of the places will at least give you a percentage of a refund, if not a full one. I wish you the best of luck with everything. ):

I'd think a month in advance, you'd just be out a deposit, not the whole amount. The uncooked shrimp are still in the ocean!

Ok, 45. This is Perdix you're talking to. Think about it.

perdix, the expression is "other fish in the sea." Do you think that "uncooked shrimp still in the ocean" might be putting too fine a point on it? ;-)

#72, no, it was a reference to the uncooked shrimp at a wedding story from a few days ago.

Oh right. Forgot about that one!

What predix u don't want a carrot peeler hooker?

Some people are too immature for marriage. Apparently she is one of those people.

That doesn't sound like FML at all; it sounds like "dodged a bullet". Seriously, if she's really not ready, other than any money wasted on the wedding that you can't get back when cancelling, this sounds like a Win.

Well it's a lot better than going through a divorce. Sorry op.

She didn't want to get married it seems. This isn't the way I would have done it but on the bright side, you're not going to marry a woman who doesn't want to marry you.

Well, better to find out now than after the wedding.

Man, that sucks. Awful as it must feel though, it's better for all concerned that she's done it this side of the wedding date.
