Because a heart beat is not in any way necessary for the perception of pain as evidenced by the fact that if your heart were to stop due to heart attack, it would be remarkably unpleasant for you. All you need for sensation and especially pain sensation is a VERY basic signal conduction and perception system. I have come across earth worms writing because they got a few bits of sharp sidewalk sand on them, tiny spiders go absolutely mad when one of their legs gets caught, and a leech certainly feels something when you poor salt on it... Essentially EVERYTHING that is alive is alive because at some point it evolved the notion that "Hey, when other shit bites bits off me its not a good thing, maybe it would be good if I DIDN’T feel peachy keen when that happens and tried to avoid it." Obviously a developing embryo doesn't have that particular issue, but by a certain point it will be at least as complex as certain other organisms that DO need sensation, and it will be developing towards an organism that feels very much indeed. It seems illogical to assume that it would not feel anything before its heart starts beating, especially since the nervous system starts to develop very shortly after gastrulation, which occurs only 14 to 16 days in, while the heart doesn't start working until about 21 days. The quickest pregnancy tests will be about 7-10 days after conception, and most people won’t get those unless they want to be pregnant or have strong suspicions. For the "I missed my period" test, the child would likely be able to feel *something* long before the abortive mother even realizes its there. So the not feeling anything assertion pretty would pretty well only apply to a morning after pill... Most actual “abortions” I would think would occur beyond two weeks, or even the three weeks you suggest as a proper time. If you want to support abortion on the grounds that you don't care its your business, but just thought you might be interested in case you're harbouring false ideas.

I would dump her right away. but why would she tell you that she's pregnant if she hasn't even had sex with you yet. if i were her i would've dumped you then "started" dating the guy that got me pregnant. that way the guy i'm dating wouldn't know i was cheating on him. but i would never cheat on a guy. i think it's horrible when people do that

You guys haven't been dating that long if you hadn't had sex yet (and she obviously wasn't ~waiting until marriage~ either) so it could very well be from her last relationship. But that's a pretty messy situation at any rate. Luckily you haven't been with her long so you're not obligated in any way to raise the kid.
