Why would they be so proud that you are TAKING the test? Any idiot with a few dollars can show up and take it. Acing it is an whole 'nother story.

Maybe they are the first in their family to be headed to college, so are the first to need the tests, making the grandparents proud. Or since the grandparents don't even know the name of them, they might not know much about them and think only smart people can take them.

I don't see why they would need to brag about you taking the SAT's. A lot of students need to take it as well. But STD's... I wouldn't want to brag about that.
