stop complaining, your kid should feel honored for being named after such a great game
Kratos is a Greek word for Strength or Titan , it's also the base word for like Democracy or aristocrat. and ITS NOT A MADE UP ******* CARTOON CHARACTER! god damn..
I don't think Kratos is that bad of a name. Hey, at least it's easier to pronounce than my name. My name is Nerhys, which isn't really all that hard to pronounce if you break it up into 2 parts, Ne-rhys (the male name Rhys [pronounced, in case anyone doesn't know, Reese], with the Ne- on the beginning makes it the feminine form) it's just when people see the combinations of letters that i can understand that make it difficult. And he'll most likely have teachers and employers comment on its originality. He won't necessarily be beaten up in school or be unsuccessful in his future career because of his unique name, but will stand out from everyone with a generic name (I'm not saying this because of my own different name, I would believe this even if i had a common name). Sure there'll be times when he wishes he had a name like everyone else, and other times he'll be glad he has such a unique name. It shouldn't matter where your husband got the name from if he truly likes the name. I LOVE the name Miki from the anime/manga Shugo Chara, but not just because I like the anime, but I actually like the name. If you really don't want to name your son Kratos, tell your husband, but try to be understanding as naming a child can be difficult (never named a child, but I've known people who have) and the desired name can change daily depending on the mood of the parents or if they find a name they like better. So since you named your daughter, let your husband pick a name he likes for your son (although naming should be done together) and don't get too stressed about it. It's probably more your hormones getting flustered more than anything else at this point.
well its a real name
And how many people are going to know GoW when your son is 20ish? Very very few. It was a good game but certainly not one to be famous in 20-30 odd years. At least there's an awesome meaning behind Kratos. My first name was literally pick from a name book in the birthing room. Besides, just give him a more traditional middle name and let him pick when he gets old enough.
The OP is very ignorant thinking God of War is a cartoon first off, which makes me very sad for her kids that she can't respect a form of entertainment that is a hobby like reading books or biking. Be open minded. Kratos is a great name, I don't think the kid would be embarrassed, you would be. You'd be too embarrassed that your sons name came from a videogame. If you are going to have kids be mature and open minded. As for everyone saying that Greek gods are fictional, they are no more fictional than Jesus or Muhammad. It's all faith, and if someone still believed in Greek deities (and I know one person who does) they might be very insulted by your viewpoint. Tolerance people. And the people saying "that's what you get for letting a man decide" just stop with your sexism.

i dont get the "i name one kid, you name the other" mentality. why dont you just work together to find a name you both like?
"Make-believe cartoon character"?! Whoa whoa whoa, you've gone too far, there. Besides, it's a totally cool name, you must admit.
