Today, my husband and I were talking about names for our expectant child. I told him since I named our daughter he could name our son. He's decided on a name from 'God of War'. My son is going to be named after a make-believe cartoon character - Kratos. FML

i dont get the "i name one kid, you name the other" mentality. why dont you just work together to find a name you both like?

"Make-believe cartoon character"?! Whoa whoa whoa, you've gone too far, there. Besides, it's a totally cool name, you must admit.

If we can name our animals with stupid names, why not the children?

LOL to everyone saying that Kratos is "real" because he's from mythology... I'm pretty sure what OP meant is that whether he's from a dead religion or a video game, he still never actually existed. Also keeping in mind the foreign-sounding bit as mentioned by others, I mean, my name is uber common and Japan and rare as all hell in the U.S., makes for cool factor ONLY because I'm actually from Japan. So if the family is like, Greek, then fine, go for it. Otherwise... put a little more thought into the naming process. #68 I know pets aren't toys. I'm saying you can get away with hilarious names for your pets and still love them to death. My aunt has a cat named Trillian, for the Douglas Adams books. I want to have an orange cat named Pyrgus one day (Faerie Wars) but would never for a second consider naming a child after a fictional character. I have a friend who's named after Astro Boy - his MIDDLE name is Atom. Turns out he made a lot of friends who thought that was cool, and we dropped his first name (Magnus, which is admittedly also a bit odd. World's Strongest Man fail.) and started calling him Atom. Give your son this chance, at least. D:

Kratos may refer to: * The Greek word "??????", krátos, strength, which forms the second compound in words like democracy, aristocrat, etc. Its mythological personification was the Titan: * Cratos or Kratos, a son of Pallas and Styx Just for those who are simple enough to think the game's creators came up with a name out of nowhere. Besides a name with meaning is far cooler than some generic banality, some weird none-name like the celebs do (Apple, Brooklyn) or that nonsense which seems to be rampant in the US of adding da- as a prefix to any other generic name.

Dude...honestly...that's ******* awesome. I don't see why you're so upset. Kratos is a badass!

I don't think that is so bad. My daughter's name is Aerith. He could have picked something much worse.

Kratos is an awesome name. The people who think it is stupid need to get lives.

#77 - Wicked name, I love it! My son is Logan James, named after Wolverine. I chose it and I'm his mother. Logan is becoming quite a popular name now, so that kinda sucks..... Kratos is a really cool name, blah to boring common names. Who wants to be just like everyone else? To everyone saying 'oh he'll never get a job in the real world', bullshit. If your name can be Condoleezza and you still get a respected position in this country, then baby Kratos will be just fine. ^_^

Ain't nothing wrong with Kratos!!! It's badass!! It's better than a family trying to name their kid Metallica, and the band wouldn't let them due to copyright issues.
