Today, my live-in girlfriend and I broke up. She told me she can't leave because she has nowhere to go. I'm stuck with her until she finds a job and an apartment. FML

skizpow7 tells us more.

It is my apartment, and we broke up mutually. she moved here from 50 miles away to live here and we'd been together two years. we just recently figured out that our relationship was great... right up until she moved in. we simply can't live together. and I'm not gonna kick her out, totally rude. she gave up her life in her town to come live here, I don't expect her to be able to up and leave. she's only been here a month and doesn't know anyone close and her parents live 4 states away. it'll just be super awkward. It sucks that you guys weren't able to live together, and I really respect you for not kicking her out. I know how it is to not have anyone else to rely on other than my bf. Things will be awkward but since it sounds like the two of you didn't have a terrible nasty breakup and it was a mutual agreement then I don't think it will be too too awkward. Good luck to both of you.

just kick her out. it's her problem, not yours

You forgot to specify why you broke up, because it seems like you both decided to end your relationship as a mutually beneficial solution to a mutually detrimental problem. Why must you then live separately?

Break up is not always the only solution. There are things like compromises and acceptance...

Sounds like the movie with Jennifer Aniston called "the breakup" or something like that :) im sure things will get sorted out soon :)

She really didn't think that through, tell her move in with a friend or her mother. After all she dumped you!

Wow, most of the people who commented on this one are complete assholes. Learn to read OP follow-up (not to mention, bother to actually read the fml in the first place). She did not dump him... it was mutual, and she left home to be with him, so truly has nowhere else to go. Have some empathy, people. Oh, wait... This is the fml community... I suppose requesting basic human decency is really asking too much.

I think it was great of you let her live with you, you had the common decency to not kick her to the curb with nowhere else to go. You did the right thing. Just keep reminding her that rent is not free. If she doesn't already have a job she needs to get one fast, if she has one just have her pay you rent
