Today, my local USPS delivery man refused to deliver any more packages to my house, because in the past, my dogs have barked at him and he feels threatened. He also filed a complaint about our house because apparently my driveway has branches that, to him, are considered "hazardous." FML

18emikot tells us more.

We have a Chihauhau and a Springer. The Chihauhau rarely goes out and only has a few teeth left so I doubt she could hurt someone. Our Springer is a sweetheart, she's all bark but no bite. Whoever she goes out she wears a bark collar and the remote is always by someone's side. There are no protruding branches in our driveway. None. We trim them regularly.

Ugh, we had a postal worker once that kept getting mad at us because she had to take the larger packages up to the door. I'm sooo sorry you have to do your job.

Why can't he just walk where the branches aren't hanging over the driveway?

My UPS delivery man has a box of dog treats he keeps in his truck door & even though all 3 of my dogs bark to tell me there is someone at the door. Once they know who it is they stop barking! My husky will run likes to go back to the truck & get a 2nd treat, but he encourages it! He says since he started carrying dog treats in the truck, he hasn't been bit and the aggressive dogs he used to see aren't so nasty towards him anymore! It made the job easier!

at canada post were not allowed to carry dog treats and Can get written up/suspended if caught. This is because if a relief carrier does your route, they don't know the dogs, nor where they live, and if the dog comes up expecting a treat it can seem intimidating, or the dog can become aggressive when they don't get one. I once had to throw a rock across the yard to make the dog thing it was a treat. On the same route, when another dog heard you pass by its yard, it would jump up on its dog house roof, which make the dog reach over the fence) and stare at you. Scared the crap out of me when it happened. It can also be bad to give the dogs treats due to allergies. There are lots of dogs allergic to meat, wheat, dairy etc.

Prune your tree and don't keep animals in your house. I wouldn't deliver either.

Seriously, why do you people keep forgetting to look at the follow-ups?

Well, Clifford Clavins still exist! :-P

I used to be a mail carrier and believe it or not even the 'nicest dogs that would never hurt anyone' would run after you and bite you in a heartbeat. Plus the mail carrier doesn't know your dog generally and can get in trouble if they do get bit. So just understand that they are doing theirjob

And just trying to make it home safely. Also the same thing happens if they trip and fall and get hurt. They get in trouble because you're not supposed to deliever to houses that have hazards like that. So just be mindful of them.
