well. the maid cant pay because we give her 15$ PER month. and we cant deduct it because... IN rural places of Nepal , where my servant comes from, one family consists of 9/10 sons or daughters .. so that 15$ directly goes to her HUGE family.

well if u have a maid u must be rich. buy a new one that dies really sucks btw
Okay, about this whole "he deserves it for having a maid" uhh, yeah, he kind of does. Let's face it, people who do not have the same opportunities as everyone else (like, say, a ******* maid in Nepal) partially don't have those opportunities because of their strapped source of income (like, say, this kid's parents). You can say "if you don't like it, go somewhere else" but somewhere else is just as bad and probably still ripping you off; you can say "make do!" but making do is ******* difficult when you're stuck with shit options; and you can say "well that's a fair exchange, work for money" but how "fair" it is depends on commodifying human labor and if it were possible to do so the wage still probably wouldn't add up to how much any given worker contributes in profit (in this case, I suppose, how the maid maintains the quality of the property in exchange for an undoubtably shitty wage because she's competing with a bunch of other skill-less laborers in a developing country). As such, yes, the family in question has definite privilege and can easily purchase another Xbox; the maid is essentially being exploited and ******* up his Xbox was definitely within her rights in a just society. Richie Rich can be without video games for a day. Honestly, suggesting that the kid and the maid are somehow on equal footing in terms of conduct when the kid's parents (and sources of his own dependence) are using this individual's complete lack of choices as a means of making her do their menial chores in exchange for a living implies that you support an incredibly unjust arrangement. If you don't think the maid was within her rights to make an easily solvable mistake like this one and this kid totally deserves it for complaining, then you are implying that the arrangement between the family and their servant is somehow founded on solid principles and that is ****** up. And that is coming from someone who has very loaded parents. I have nice shit too, more than most people, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get upset with people who are already in the shitter, partially because of the way things work in a capitalist society. If anyone's ******* anyone over, it's the other way around -- the way money works and the way it can be earned through mere ownership (without effort) or denied based on lack of money (someone who is fundamental to production but doesn't get to control production in any meaningful sense). Instead this kid should be finding ways to get the maid to join a union or something.
I like how nobody in this entire thread has thought about that maybe, just maybe, some people are GLAD they're maids. NO, before you start bitching, I do not think some people LIKE cleaning and cooking and shit (well, actually, some people do--I quite like it, for instance), but there are a lot of people without a whole lot of education, time, or skill sets. One of the few ways they can make money is by cleaning, and they're glad for a job. And personally, I think this is great. I come from a country where you can't get a ******* part time secretarial position without having a BA and 2 years experience, and it's because stuck-up people like you think that it's "demeaning" for people to have manual labor jobs. Well you know what? It's not. I DO have a BS (well, in about 2 months I will), and you know what? I have a manual labor job. And I'm ******* grateful, because of how hard it is to get a job in the first place. So quit talking about how rich people are the devil and he doesn't deserve a ps3 or a maid or whatever, and realize that some people are stupid, some people are poor, and some people just DGAF. And it takes all kinds, including maids and fast-food employees and doctors and lawyers and janitors.
.......u guys are really dumb. it wouldn't have mattered to my stupid maid if it was a X-BOX or a Wii or any other consoles. She would have washed it any-way any-how.... also NOW i cant buy another type of console [x-box , wii , etc] because i HAVE EXPENSIVE PS3 original GAMES . at least i need to utilize it [ you see in Nepal, everything is done the illegal way.... Cd's , games software, everything is PIRATED ... so here in Nepal PS3 games ARE really EXPENSIVE] ..... also my maid fired herself by not showing up for about 2 days. and i cant make her pay cause she first of all ran away, second of all, i paid her $15 per month so she can repay me the PS3 fixing money. also in Nepal. 50 % people are uneducated. so i cant teach her English..... and NO IM NOT THAT RICH TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. Also another fact is that I ******* didn't ask my maid to clean the PS3. it was in my room , which wasn't suppose to be touched..... so it wasn't me who wanted to get it clean. i usually clean my OWN stuff !!!!!
Fire the maid, use the money you save to buy a new one, clean your own god damn house.
First - You have a Maid Second - You have a PS3 Stop whining you spoiled brat!!

You only give her $15 a month? Wow. What an asshole
Check the location, they're in Nepal. I expect that might be something resembling a decent wage out there...
