Today, my manager said I could go on a break when he came back from his. After 7 hours with him still missing, I started to get dizzy. I ended up passing out and hitting my head on a ladder from lack of food. I woke up in the hospital to a card from my manager saying, "Get Well. Don't Sue." FML

I think that's cause for a formal complaint to HR at the VERY least.

It could mean a lot of things... For starters, the manager was missing for 7 hours. God knows how many hours has Op been hungry for.. he could've skipped his breakfast as he was running late... the job may involve a lot of physical activity, op may not be well already like recovering from the flu.. Yes, he could be hypoglycemic as well but for his sake I wish he's not.

I've gone three days without eating while working a job that required me to move 40 pound concrete blocks around all day and never even had a dizzy spell. The human body can function well for weeks without food, a few hours is nothing.

Care to explain how? It seems as though you and at least a few other commenters have the slowest metabolisms in the world if you consider passing out from hunger "pathetic".

Everyone's body is different. I love food and I get dizzy from not eating for three hours. But guess what? I'm otherwise healthy and fit. Calling the OP pathetic from being mistreated (starved) at work was uncalled for, and tells us a lot about your size.

A normal healthy human body can function perfectly fine without food for weeks. If you get woozy after 3 hours then you have either conditioned yourself incredibly poorly or you have a health condition

Yeah, no. You should file a lawsuit. That guy is an asshole.

Op never said it was 7 hours after he/she started working. And because there's no federal laws mandating breaks, managers can be super strict about them. Mine actually threatens to fire someone for using the bathroom.

Clearly you are the only one that read Op's post well ?? It seems everyone read it as 7hrs of work instead of after 7hrs of waiting for the manager to come back... For all we know Op could have done say 8hrs shift and had to wait an additional 7hrs for an inconsiderate manager

If you got fired for using the restroom that would be one of the easiest wrongful termination suits ever.
