Today, my Marine friend got back from his tour of duty overseas. We went out for drinks to celebrate his return. His own form of celebration was to pick a fight with a returning Navy SEAL and his friends. We lost. Badly. FML

Navy SEALS are like grim reapers in training. Why would you fight them.

That sucks, but... You DEFINITELY deserved that. You don't pick fights with a Navy SEAL unless you want to nearly die or actually die... Tell your Marine friend to grow a brain before he thinks of picking another fight.

Good. The stupidass Marines need to be taken down a peg or two. They're too cocky.

what the **** did he think was going to happen when you mess with a SEAL?

you're all incredibly gay. OP's friend needs to realise he's not picking on little iraqi kids any more.

Thats why you don't need to be smart to join the marines. They are dumber than the box of rocks they are carrying. Did i mention brainwashed too?!

#104 i couldnt agree more...not just because im in the navy, but because 2 of my best friends are marines and...they arent the brightest haha

oy this is really ridiculous. Ok People Listen Up. No Branch is better or worse than the others. They have their specific tasks and specialties (though there is crossover). Originally, all that a marine was was a sailor with a gun. They have evolved significantly into the modern corps. Today the Marines function as a first strike landing/invasion force. Typically, when the US goes into a war where there is Land battle expected, especially where there is a coastline accessible, the Corps will be the first ones there (on land). But remember, often the Navy will have had a Carrier group stationed in striking distance for some time before it escalated to the need for this. Now, within the Marines there are specialist units that are highly trained for a particular task. These are the MARSOCs and Force Recon. They are highly trained ELITE units with special functions. MOST marines have NO chance at joining them (sorry to say it that way, but that is the nature of being Elite). I myself am not fully versed on MARSOC. Force Recon is a deep recon unit. They get in and stay a while to get any info they can to give us a 1 up (hence RECON). Navy SEALs. This term is often read very wrongly. the "Navy" in this group refers to the Branch (department really). However, the department of the Navy is made up of both the Navy (squids) and Marines (jarheads). The Seals, however, are not your typical Sailors. They are highly trained in H2H combat and SWAT, Demolition, extraction, counter-terrorism ops and the like. They Find there start in the UDTs (Underwater Dem Teams of WWII. Its not about who is better than whom. To be honest, it doesn't matter what unit they are from, all the Special Ops Groups are highly trained in H2H and the basic combat and H2H training received by any regular personnel in any branch fails in comparison. The advantages of each group can be best seen when they are viewed in action and said action is what the group was purposed for. But to be honest the OPs friend was a fool no matter how you look at it. It does not matter if the group that they were picking a fight with were SEALs, Force Recon, Green Beret, Special Forces, SAR-C, or what not. Regulars are not trained as heavily in H2H as them. In an all out fight and of the SOGs will will over a Basic Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Soldier. What compounds this is that the OPs Marine buddy dragged his friends, whom I am believing at this point to be Civi's, into a fight with Special Ops. Remember, most Civilians do not have more than a basic self defense class or two below their belts. Aside from that. Picking a Fight with fellow servicemen? no FHL or FYL for that. Thats just plan SHAME on him. Joking about the other branches is one thing, but having no respect for them at all and starting that stuff? We NEED all the branches The Army acts as long term occupying ground forces and low level air support. The Navy acts as first strike air forces and long range heavy support. Not to mention that they get the Corps where it needs to go. The Coast Guard protects our waters close to home. The Airforce protects our skies and Space (physical and Cyber). They are also responsible for our Bombers and Silos which make up about 80% of the Nuke Deterrence. (Navy Boomers carry the rest). The Marines are Set up to be First strikers where needed, they can be deployed anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours. But we need all the other branches just as much as we need the Corps!

ha. let me guess.. this was actually a few weeks ago.. in PB?

54, 73, and 6 lmfaoanuicapmp (laugh my ****** ass off all night until i cry and piss my pants) but 53 and 25 are defineitely right. Navy SEALs are specialy trained for combat situations while marines however are for people who enlist with no prior military experience and are infantry-first to fight and die in wars, hence, SEALs>Marines.......#108 lotta time on your hands huh
