Today, my mom had big news. I've been trying to get her to quit smoking because of second hand smoke for 20 years. She learned today that second hand smoke severely affects animals as well. Her big news? She's quitting. She doesn't want to hurt the dog. FML

its crazy how much more people care about animals than people these days... a lot like in the movies, you can watch hundreds of people die and be upset, but as soon as a dog dies you begin to feel bad (example is i am legend, the human race was being destroyed and nobody cared until dog died)

#72- Um, humans are animals too. Period. You never heard of people who spend a lot of time with both? The only reason why there are so many people desperate for love is because there are billions of people on this planet. And if it really was the way that you make it out to be, why are there millions of unloved animals dying in shelters as well? The real problem here is that there are just too many people who do not have the time nor money to care about anyone but themselves and their intermediate family. You should hate anyone who spends a lot of time partying, playing video games, watching TV, studying, reading, etc. Cause if they were busy loving people, they wouldn't have much time to do the stuff they enjoy. To the OP: Did your mom really think that her dog doesn't have lungs? What she thought it had, gills? Doh! # 2- The reason why I was sad when the dog died is because that was the only friend the guy had left. Now he was really alone.

That's ridiculous. Leave home. I hate people who think animals lives are worth more than another persons, especially if it's their family. I had a teacher once who was always talking about dogs, and we asked her "if you saw a dog and a person drowning in a river, and you could only save one, which would you choose?". She said the dog =/

#72, why is it something wrong with Americans for taking their pets "too" seriously? Maybe not ALL Americans think that way. Maybe your people aren't taking them seriously enough. Or maybe you don't represent your ENTIRE nation in not caring about animals. Did you ever stop to think of any of that before you judged an entire country of people?

#2, the reason that it was so sad that the dog died was because the plot purposely built the character up to be will smith's very last friend and very last resort. the other people were just random people that really didn't have much to do with the plot, besides maybe his family, and personally i thought it was more sad when his family died than the dog
