By law schools can't do that if you're passing even if it's a D you have to keep it moving now what passing grades you get is up to you and how hard you study.
The school would never allow it. The whole point of school is to set you up best for the future, and holding you back definitely isn't for the best.
Unless your mom has a way to go behind the law you won't be getting held back unless you fail. Don't worry about what your mom says OP. Just do your best and forget the rest.
I'm a teacher and trust me you have to go through hell and back to retain a student even one that shouldn't be moved on. No need to worry OP.
She doesn't have that ability unless you're homeschooled. Schools only care about they money they make off you and holding you back looks bad on them so not gonna happen.
legally she cant do that. so id say fail one of the extra classes just to stick it to her.
My parents did it
Not necessarily limiting your options if you choose an elective that you don't really care about to do it for, since if you don't really care for it it likely won't be along the lines of a career option you'd care for. But still, I wouldn't fail a class just to spite someone.
This mom's logic is nonexistent. It's obviously far more damaging for her kid to get held back than to not have perfect grades. On top of that, it's more work for the mother.
The next ultimatum from your mom is to your school teachers to get you 'A's
My coworker attempt to have her daughter held back a year because her reading comprehension is behind, as are her math and science skills, but the school refused because of no child left behind. If a child who is outright failing most of her classes won't be held back, I don't think you will be. :) But then I'm in Arizona and you're in California so there could be some major differences in the school system.
Tiger mom FTW! Sorry OP, but hey, no pressure, right?

I don't think the school would allow that. If it's a real problem then talk to the principal about it or the headmaster
Just try your hardest OP, there is no way the school would let that happen so just do well (A's and B's) and I'm sure you'll be just fine!
