If you're not ready for the consequences of having sex (including telling your dad), then maybe you're not ready. Take time to consider it...
I agree. Imagine if you got pregnant, OP. If you think it's hard to tell him now...
I'm 22 and my Dad knows I do. But there is no F'ing way I would tell him. Daughters never tell their Fathers about having sex. It kills the 'Daddy' thing, and that's not cool. When he saw I had my Belly peirced he almost cried, and I was 19 when he saw.
Why would someone who wants to keep private information private not being ready for the consequences of sex? Why is telling your dad you're sexually active a necessary consequence? I had sex at seventeen, waited 8 months, and am still together with my boyfriend, but no way that I would ever tell my protective parents that I have sex. They discovered I take the pill, but we simply don't speak about sex, like it doesn't exist. God doesn't want me having sex. Boo ******* hoo. Am i not mature now? Or ready? And what about a slutty *****? There are things I want to keep for myself, and away from my parents, thank you.
I wasn't trying to come off as someone who is telling OP that she's a *****. Honestly, I'm not one of those people of the opinion who thinks that having sex makes you a *****. That's not what I was saying AT ALL. I wouldn't necessarily walk up to my dad and be like "HEY DAD, I'M SEXUALLY ACTIVE" but he does know that I am. I tentatively ask my dad about the pill, and he made sure that I got the information I needed just in case I became sexually active. He assumes (rightly) that I am.
What I wanted to get across was that sex is a big deal, and my first sleepy read-through of the FML (at 3:30 on a sleepless night/morning) made it seem like she was one of those teens too embarrassed to talk about sex and learn the facts of safe sex even though she was having it. Obviously that wasn't what was going on the in FML, and I realize that now that I've actually had sleep. So please, don't condemn me to idiocy because of a misconception. I'm not an idiot, I don't think OP is immature or a ****, I was just gently asking her to think about whether or not she's ready for sex-- especially since some people start having it without being ready. I was sleepy and totally misread this/read things into it that weren't there, so please excuse that.
Thanks =) I appreciate your comments and I do understand that it's a big deal. Before I became active I talked to my lady doctor, researched, talked to my mom about "hypothetical situations" and my boyfriend and I are very open about it with each other. I don't regret the choice I've made, it's an adult choice and I'll deal with whatever adult consequences come my way. No matter what age you are, having sex is risk taking behavior, and I do understand the risks.
#141 Yay! That's good, OP! I'm glad you've done your research. :)
21, that's essentially correct except some states have Romeo &...anyway IMO 17 is way too young to b sexually active & why, oh why do some high school students think virginity is like an abnormal condition suited only to nerds & wallflowers
Oops meant Romeo & Juliet laws
11; are u a guy or a girl? and op, I feel for ya
if you have a fml about this you just may not be ready
I wont deny that you make a good point, but isn't that what FML is kind of about? Posting something that other people would say sucks to be in your situation, or you deserve it?
I'm a teen mom. I was plenty mature, thanks. So, go suck one, pompous dick.
65, I can tell you're so mature from your cultured and refined way of speaking. I hope the drunk sex and the resulting pregnancy were worth it, your life is pretty much over before it started! I bet you say you're happy it happened too, but the only one you're fooling is yourself :)
why does everyone keep saying that 17 is too young? She is hopefully sexually active with someone she loves. It's not like it's illegal to have sex when you're 17. I was 15. And I'm not a **** because it was with my boyfriend whom I love and had dated for 6 months at that time. We're still dating. and I've never slept with anyone else. it's nothing wrong to be sexually active at the age of 17 if you're mature and careful and don't sleep with everyone. I know people who lost their virginity at the age of 13-14 and they're *****. Because that was with a random person at a party. And they still sleep with ransoms at parties.
I agree that you're not a ****. One boyfriend over two years means that you're NOT a ****. What will be difficult for you to accept, however is that a 15 to 17 year- old is not a good judge of his/her own maturity and, that which is often seen by a teenager as true, pure, and unending love often ends up very poorly-please see #55 above. I sincerely wish you the best of luck with you boyfriend.
