Today, my mum was in a bad mood, so I tried to cheer her up by telling her I love her, and giving her a hug. She slapped me hard enough to leave a red, hand-shaped mark on my face, and told me to fuck off with my "sarcasm". FML

Today, I tried to give my mom a hug, but she pushed me away and yelled at me for trying to hug her while she’s angry. When I asked how I was supposed to know, she replied, “Read my fucking body language, idiot!” I’m diagnosed autistic and she knows it. FML

I'm very sorry. maybe try talking to her when she calms down? ask her what happened today have a nice calm conversation then calmly mention that it really hurt your feelings ( and your face) when she didn't respect you the way you were trying to respect her. if she is apologetic, cool. if she's not, you don't need that kind of person in your life and you have every right to cut her out for a little while until you feel she is trustworthy again.

Just like everybody to think on this when they don't call this abuse. If a father had done it, what would you think? All because its a mom and she was having a tough time, it does NOT mean OP deserves a slap in the face that was SO HARD that it left a print. Your mom is abusive; how dare she.
