Today, my parents bought a new car with the money they made from selling mine. To make up for selling my car without telling me, they let me choose the make, model, and colour of the new car... which I just found out I'm not allowed to drive. FML

skittlesftw tells us more.

I'm the op (just made an account) I bought the car with my money, and since they drove the car as well they paid for some maintance and insurance. They decided to sell the car without talking to me first, but said that I would be able to drive the new car they were going to buy. Turns out the insurance would be too expensve with me on it, hence the FML. Not all bad though, they feel guilty so they are sorting me out with a car once i finish uni. (only just found this bit out)

Well, did you buy your car, or did they buy it for you?

Oh, call the waaaaahmbulance. It's clear that you're minor living at home. It was their car to sell to begin with. ...And no teenager needs to have a license.

isnt 18 a "teen" you idiot and 18 is legally an adult. i say just make a copy of the keys and drive whenever u want. its highly unlikely you'll smash the car just be because you're in it. Fark the insurance

what does having a license or not have a whole hell of a lot to do with the post? and the OP said she paid for the car herself, her parents paid for the maintenance. So it was her car.

Well, it sucks that they sold the car without your knowledge, but then if you didn't purchase it yourself — and with money that you yourself earned — then you technically (and legally) have no right to complain.

The OP posted a bit above you, she said she paid for the car herself, her parents paid for some maintenance. therefore it was her car.

if they can sell "your" car then its not "your" car.... so ur parents r just selling their car, so i dobt get y r bitching

just say that you want a lambo, and when they buy it, sell the car like they did with yours:) Boom, $250,000 right in your pocket.

obviously the car wasn't yours because they wouldn't have been able to sell it.. so be glad that they let you use the car for as long as they did and focus on a job to buy yourself a car they can't sell

If OP paid for the car, the title would be in her name and the parents would not be able to sell it. I wouldn't let a teenager drive my new car either. And if OP isn't a teenager, she shouldn't still be living with mommy and daddy.

I think the real question is, is it really your car? Did you make the payments on the car with your own money also paying for your insurance. If not then they had every right to sell THEIR car. If it was your car and you did all of the above, then FYL dude. Totally shamed.

quit crying. you didn't pay for it anyway. stupid teenagers.

How do you know that? She could have saved for it or paid it off. Don't assume shit, mate.
