In their defense, perhaps they are going through some financial hardships currently. I don't think them taking a shirt you already own straight out of your closet was the wisest, most inconspicuous action but perhaps they didn't think you would notice and wanted you to believe that nothing was amiss. I don't want to worry you but there are so many people and families now who are being affected quite badly by the down turn in the economy and perhaps they are one of them. Maybe you could maturely and respectfully ask them about the choice of gift?
The recession is real.
Well my birthday and X-mas are in the same week so my parents always give me 1 present for both... the last present they gave me was a puzzle... =/
:( Your parents seem really inconsiderate. I'm sorry to hear this.
That's just really bizarre behavior. When you bought the shirt, did you use their money? Because if that's the case, they might be trying to tell you something.
at least someone said this before i could. also, how old are you that you care about what you get on your birthday more than they actually remembered it? i haven't got a present for my birthday or Christmas since i was 16. and I'm fine with it as long as they at the very least give me a call on my b-day.
#10 at least your gift was original now if they gave you the big mac you just bought that would be bad.

For their next birthday, steal their car keys and give it to them. Make sure you drive it all night so it has an empty tank of gasoline. Another thing you can do is buy them a new TV to replace the old one they lost. They'll say, what TV? And they'll see that you have staked claim to the old TV. Make sure the new TV you buy sucks.
Your lucky. My parents bought me a big mac for my 16th birthday
