Today, my parents made me quit a school team that I absolutely loved, because women "aren't supposed to play sports." and were worried that if I stayed on the team, I'd develop a manly physique. FML

It's cases like these where it's acceptable to stand up against your parents. I know that people around you agree, and look at these comments. Don't quit. Be yourself OP.

Use your strength to kick them both in the shins

Prove them wrong, get a manly physique anyway!

You can still be athletic and hot. Just look at Rhonda Rousey. Tough enough to kick your ass and hot enough to steal your girl after

ahh, Rhonda, thats who i was thinking of in my comment below

That's when you decide to not listen to your parents, because it is absolutely ridiculous what they think of womens sports.

their mentality is like from the 1930s

As a dyke, this really disappoints me. Wow some people just can't handle others who are different from them at all cant they...

They can't make you quit remember that. All they can do is make it difficult but if it's what you really want then screw them and keep playing.

They can also withdraw consent at any point.

Women don't usually develop "manly" muscles unless they lift lots of weights or take steroids. You could have her talk to the doctor to ease her worries. And excise is good for you.

swimming might give them large thighs

Who cares about sports, real women squat

Swimmers actually tend to be more slim than most other athletes. I did it competitively for 8 years, so trust me. If it's swim team she wouldn't Abe larger thighs. The only thing that would be noticeable would be her shoulders and butt... The last of which is not only attributed to a feminine body, but attractive :)

I guess your parents don't want you to get in to college because colleges look for that (also your parents are extremely sexist)

You should do what you want, it is your life!
