Today, my parents made me quit a school team that I absolutely loved, because women "aren't supposed to play sports." and were worried that if I stayed on the team, I'd develop a manly physique. FML

It's cases like these where it's acceptable to stand up against your parents. I know that people around you agree, and look at these comments. Don't quit. Be yourself OP.

Use your strength to kick them both in the shins

Girl, get out and keep exercising!! The benefits of young women gaining muscle between the ages of 8 and 18 are endless: less bone density loss from menopause, reduced chance of heart disease, stronger muscles for day to day life, faster metabolism for fat distribution, and even faster recovery from childbirth; none of which are gained after around age 28! Please please please find a solution to do what you love. This breaks my heart, as a woman coach - and I am petite, not muscly, but I am a national champion in my sport. Go for it! PS They should say that to Serena Williams' face.

Sounds like OP's parents want her to get married right after high school and become a baby making machine soon after

whats the sport? Because volleyball is so manly as a start...I could go on but I'll leave it at that

I mean look at Serena Williams, you can't get more built than her!

Your parents are mentally defective and you should not listen to a damn word they say.

Tell them that only happens if you do an insane amount of weight lifting.

try to get a conference meeting with your parents and coach

That's so unfair pull most women don't have the testosterone to build muscle like men
