Today, my PE teacher yelled at me for not trying hard enough in class. This my second week back after being in the hospital with a collapsed lung. FML

Does he/she know that? If so, that's really messed up and you need to report it to the principal because that is unacceptable. If the principal won't do anything about it then it's time to get the state involved.

That's bullshit. Tell him to **** off and leave, just as a previous comment suggested. If the principal doesn't back you up, you can still get them in serious trouble. You shouldn't be expected to do strenuous work like that, and you should refuse to do it. Don't feel like you need to do it just because he told you to. He's just a lousy P.E. teacher, nothing more.

And why don't you have a medical excuse from gym written from your doctor? I know Illinois state REQUIRES you to have PE to graduate, but the do allow for medical excuses.

The teacher must've thought if you're well enough not to be excused from the class then there's no point in not giving your all. Next time get a note.

That reminds me of when a gym teacher of mine tried to make a girl in a wheelchair (she could walk but she had leg and lower spine problems that made it quite difficult) run the mile because she could technically walk. Thankfully once administration caught wind of it he was fired.

******... He needs to have the same happen to him then see how it feels

Well, hopefully you explained it to him. If not, tell someone higher up. Cant be treating someone like that if they have prior knowledge of a serious injury

Bring a note from your doctor - but give it to the principal, because your gym teacher sounds like a douche.

I had my right lung collapse over 10 years ago, your teacher is a retard. I'd report him to the school for endangering your health, I know your pain OP, get better
