I did the same thing with a plastic wrap box and cut my middle finger on the serrated metal part. I got 5 stitches.
Been there...done that...hurts like a SOB!!!
My sympathies. I had something similar happen about 8 months ago and now have a scar from the 2nd degree burns. Hopefully you're not injured too badly, OP.
That's ok. I've got a scar about half the size of a quarter on my wrist from when I burnt myself with the hot-glue itself when I was 10.
Luckily I was in the kitchen when it happened and got my wrist under cold water right away.
That happened to me too. Still got the scar.

Remember, OP, just because you saved the glue gun doesn't mean it owes you anything in return. No matter how hot you think is, or how little it was wearing.
I almost did that when I dropped an open pocket knife. Luckily at the last second I thought "wait, what the crap am I doing?"
